This year after so many hurdles and precautions the IPL 2020 is finally being held on 19 September. This time 8 teams will play against each other. Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB ) These are the eight teams to be contested.

In the history of these teams so far, Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title 4 times and Chennai Super Kings 03 times. Chennai returned to the 11th season of IPL after the ban and proved that nothing can stop this team from being a champion. Kolkata Knight Riders have been winners twice, while the first IPL title is named after Rajasthan Royal. Deccan Charger, the founding team of the IPL, was the winner in 2009 which merged with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2012. The 2016 winner was Sunrisers Hyderabad. Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore also made a different mark due to their performances in some seasons of IPL but both teams failed to win the IPL title. The same story is also of Kings XI Punjab, which has not touched the IPL trophy even once.

In some seasons of the IPL, there were controversies about the teams.
