The IPL season is yet upon us and we can’t keep calm. The twelfth season of
the Indian Premier League, 2019 or the IPL 12 is going to be a mega event just
like its last 11 seasons with some exciting changes and fresh talent to cheer
BCCI confirmed the beginning of the tournament from 23rd March with its continuation for a span of 2 months, ending with the grand finale on 19 th May. The opening match will be played between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the CSK home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Although speculations were of the grand event of cricket to be hosted in other countries this year, foreseeing the general elections to be held in India around the same time but to the relief of fans, BCCI confirmed for the venues to be well within the country.
Auctions for bidding on the players by the 8 franchises were completed earlier in the month of December, 18. The 8 teams have finalized their squads for the home grown Twenty20 league. Jaidev Unadkat, left arm pacer bagged the most expensive player’s tag along with uncapped Varun Chakravarty at the winning bid of 8.4 crore. Apart from the big guns making tons of money as they were bagged by the 8 franchises, Prayas Ray Barman from Bengal became the youngest crorepati, at 15 years of age, bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 1.5 crore.
