That Supreme Goddess dwells in the lotus and holds in her hands a fistful of arrows, a lotus, a cluster of vegetables and a shining bow. That cluster of vegetables contains endless flavours that one could wish for, destroys the fear of hunger, thirst and death, and is rich with flowers, shoots, roots and fruits. She is the one called Shakambhari, Shatakshi and Durga. ॥13-15॥

Verse 16

Meaning: She is free from sorrow, subdues the wicked and calms sin and calamity. She is also Uma, Gauri, Sati, Chandi, Kalika and Parvati. ॥16॥

Verse 17

Meaning: The person who praises, meditates on, chants the name of, worships and bows to Goddess Shakambhari quickly gains food, drink and the imperishable fruit that is like nectar. ॥17॥

Verses 18–19

Meaning: Goddess Bhima’s complexion too is blue. Her tusks and teeth are always gleaming. Her eyes are large, her form is that of a woman, and her breasts are round and full. In her hands she holds the sword called Chandrahasa, a damaru (drum), a head and a drinking vessel. She is the one called Ekavira, Kalaratri and Kamada, and she is praised by these names. ॥18-19॥

Verse 21

Meaning: Her glory is sung by names such as Chitrabhramarapani and Mahamari. O King! In this way these forms (murtis) of Goddess Chandika, the Mother of the world, have been described. ॥21॥

Verse 22

Meaning: When sung, they fulfil every desire, like Kamadhenu (the wish-fulfilling cow). This is a supremely secret mystery. You should not reveal it to anyone else. ॥22॥
