K. ChandraSekhar Rao - President of TRS

Kalvakuntla ChandraSekhar Rao or more popularly known as KCR is one of the very few politicians who are known to make his mark in the Indian Politics without the help of big parties and with his own hard work. First Chief Minister of the recently developed 29th state of India, Telangana, KCR is the President of Telangana Rasthra Samithi, the party which demanded Telangana to be a separate state and not a part of Andhra Pradesh and succeeded in doing so on 2nd June 2014 and he took oath to be the first Chief Minister of Telangana on this day.
K.C Rao began his political career as a member of the Youth Congress Party. After this he joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1983. Between the years 1985 and 1999 KCR won four consecutive Assembly elections from Siddipet. He worked as the Minister of Drought & Relief in the years 1987-88. In 1996, he worked as Transport minister. He also served as the deputy speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from 2000–2001.
With a rich history and proven work record he took a complete turn for his usual path and founded his own party, Telangana Rashtiya Samithi with the ultimate objective of converting Telangana into an independent state. His political journey has been a shifting ride with over tens of wins and resignations. He became an MLA after winning the 2004 Assembly Elections from Siddipet, and soon after he became a member of the Parliament but resigned in 2006. He won again in 2008 but along with 16 MLAs resigned yet again.
After becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014, he resigned from his post again, 6 months before the 2018 Assembly Elections and was elected the Chief Minister for his second term. Now in the upcoming 2019 general elections he has began his preparations to form a third front in order to defeat BJP to whom he will contest directly in these elections.
