The Varna Koota In Kundli Matching

Marriage is a sacred bonding of two natives that is meant to last for a lifetime. With that in mind, people in India take help of Vedic astrology to check the compatability of a couple before marriage through Kundli matching. This throws insight about the compatibility of the boy and girl, and how the Ascendants and Nakshatras in their horoscopes could influence their marriage. Based on this compatibility, they go ahead with the marriage.

During Kundli matching expert astrologers analyze and match eight different aspects of the couple’s horoscopes. The first and foremost among this is Varna Koota.  Varna Koota refers to the calculation of the native’s varna- meaning type, order or cast- to analyse the compatibility of the couple.

Varnas can be calculated using several methods;

  1. Calculating the Rasi of the moon of the native,

  2. Calculating the Navamsa of the moon,

  3. Calculating the Ascendant or Sun of the native,

  4. Calculating the Nakshatra of the moon.

There are 4 Varnas; Brahmin (the literate), Kshatriya (the warriors), Vaishya (the Traders), and Shudra (the unskilled). According to Vedic Astrology, the Rashis (Zodiac Signs) Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces fall in the Brahmin Varna, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius in the Kshatriya Varna, Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn come under the Vaishya Varna, and Gemini, Aquarius and Libra are the Shudra Varna.

Vedic Astrology states that the Brahmins are the most superior in the social hierarchy and Shudras, the most inferior. This caste system is also based on spirituality. While Brahmin will show spirituality with his love for God, Kshatriya will prove it with his actions, Vaishya, with his dealings and Shudra by his tradition.

Many Astrologers assess Varna Koota by matching the moon sign of the natives.

While most astrologers in Northern India follow the Astakoota charts for kundli matching, many in Southern India rely on the Nakshatras of the natives for Varna Koota Kundli Matching. The Nakshatras of the moon states that there are 27 Varnas.

In whatever manner the Varna Koota is calculated, it follows that the Varna of the groom should either be higher or equal to the Varna of the bride for a successful and lasting marriage. If the Varna of the bride is higher than the Varna of the groom, the natives will face a lot of problems in their marriage. Astrology also accepts the matches of the Varnas of the natives if they belong to the same Varna. This means that a bride of Brahmin Varna can marry a groom from the same Varna.

In this way, a groom of Brahmin Varna and a bride of Shudra Varna are the most compatible natives, as they can be matched with any other native.

But a bride from Brahmin Varna and a groom from Shudra Varna are the most difficult matches as they can only be matched with someone from their same Varna. Want to match your Kundli
