Pakistan’s New face - Hina Rabbani Khar
The world is talking about this young female leader of Pakistan. No prizes for guessing who she is! Hina Rabbani Khar, the current Foreign Affairs Minister of Pakistan, at 34, is the youngest politician in Pakistan to take on such a serious job.
Hina, (born on January 19, 1977), hails from a political family. She is the daughter of former Pak foreign minister Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar and niece of Ghulam Mustafa Khar. Her father drove her into politics. It's because of her political roots that she has often been referred as the next Benazir of the Pakistan. After Bhutto, Hina is the next female face of Pakistan known worldwide.
This efficient and hardworking leader was also the first woman to present the budget speech in national assembly of Pakistan in 2009. A businesswoman by profession, Hina graduated from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. She also holds a Masters degree from the University of Massachusetts, USA. Ask her seniors and they say she has all that it takes to be a leader.
Her constant efforts and zeal to change the face of Pakistan has been appreciated worldwide. In 2008, she was named to the World Economic Forum's list of young global leaders. Earlier she served as a State Minister for Economic Affairs and Statistics as National Assembly member of PML-Q in 2003-07.
A proud Pakistani from Multan, Hina is married to Feroze Gulzar, a businessman and enjoys riding, reading and travelling. She is also a member of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) Pakistan. She is also a co-owner of the Polo Lounge, an upscale, popular restaurant located on the Lahore Polo Grounds.
Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari justified her appointment, saying it would "send positive signals about the soft image of Pakistan".
Hina's first task has drawn a lot of attention. She recently touched down in India to take on the peace dialogue forward between the two arch-rivals. The world was watching her and anticipating as to how she handles her first major diplomatic outing and navigates the troubled waters of India-Pakistan relationship. With confidence and expertise of a pro, Hina highlighted the two nations could come closer as friendly neighbors with a stake in each other's future. "This is my first trip to India and to New Delhi as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan. I bring the good wishes of the people of Pakistan, of the Government of Pakistan and hope that these two countries, we have learnt lessons from history, but are not burdened by history," said Khar on her arrival. She also met Hurriyat leaders, including Democratic Freedom Party (DPF) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chief (hard-line faction) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, All Party Hurriyat Conference chairman (moderate faction) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik.
From an astrological point of view, Hina is a Capricorn and she portrays a lot of qualities of a true Capricorn. She is classy, practical, known to be reliable and thoughtful. Her powerful ambition combined with an excellent work ethic has come to this level. She is self-disciplined, serious, determined, mature and able to persevere in the face of adversity. Capricorns tend to work hard and rise in their chosen fields to achieve high status, which is evident in her case. She has not only reached the top, but earned respect of others rather than simply asking for it.
With such qualities and the zeal that she has to change the outlook towards her country, the world expects that she will play a significant role in the future of Pakistan.
