Throughout the night, to keep himself awake, he stayed vigilant to hunt and plucked leaves, which fell and dropped on the shiva linga.

A doe carrying a baby came to drink water. Lubdhaka, feeling how hard it must be for the deer, lets down his bow and watched the deer peacefully.

The second deer came looking for her mate. Lubdhaka's heart softened, and he let her go.

The third deer arrived with a baby fawn.

Looking at the innocent baby animal, depending on its mother. Lubdhaka could not harm them too.

When a mighty stag arrived and revealed himself as the father of all three deer, Lubdhaka was moved to tears. His hunger and violent nature disappeared.

Through the night, he had accidentally performed a complete worship: the fast came from his hunger not being met, the vigil from his fear, and the offerings came from his shaking hands dropping leaves.

By dawn, his heart was cleansed. Shiva appeared to him, blessing him with freedom. The hunter's accidental worship proved more powerful than rituals performed without compassion.
