Sawan Somwar Vrat Katha (Legend)
A long time ago, a poor Brahmin and his wife were deeply devoted to Lord Shiva along. Unfortunately, the couple had no children; their strong desire for a child led them to a saint, and they asked him to bless them with a child.
The sage told them to observe Sawan Somvar fasts. The couple observed the fasts on each Monday with devotion and worshipped Lord Shiva with Bilv Patra (Bael leaves), Datura fruit, and flowers, and offered milk and water to the Shiva Linga.
The prayers and devotion of the couple were answered by Lord Shiva in a dream. By the end of the month, they had a dream in which Lord Shiva blessed them with a virtuous and wise son. Soon, the Brahmin's wife gave birth to a child who grew up to be kind, spiritual, and innocent.
