1. Ananda in the Himalayas, Uttaranchal

Ananda was formerly a home to the maharajah of Tehri-Garhwal. It is spread over 100 acres in the foothills of the Himalayas. The centre has remarkable facilities, which include several yoga pavilions, a 21,000 square-foot spa, and meditation rooms, which are set among gardens to provide you with ultimate peace. There is a beautiful tea lounge and an antique billiards room. At Ananda, you also have a choice of individually guided meditation sessions. For the meditation sessions, Buddhist teachings or yogic breathing techniques may be included, depending on your preference.

2. Osho Meditation Resort, Pune

This centre is spread over 40 acres of land close to Mumbai. The retreat includes beautiful Zen gardens, seminar spaces and a meditation auditorium. Visit this centre if you looking for active meditations, and also traditional silent and seated sessions. The centre also offers meditative dancing, vocalizing, whirling and power-breathing. The centre has around 60 double rooms. Participants are required to wear dark red robes to encourage collective meditative energy during meditation sessions.

3. Kalari kovilakom, Kerala

The retreat and spa is the former home of the king of Kollangode, restored to suit modern life. It is also known as the "Palace of Ayurveda". From the time you reach where a sign at the entrance greets you with "Please leave your world here" to the time you leave, you will be expected to eat no meat, avoid caffeine, leather accessories and alcohol. But, you will surely not mind following any of these restrictions-the good food, purifying baths, herbal treatments, and the massages that will be offered will make you forget everything else!

4. Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram, Kerala

This popular retreat is set in 12 acres of tropical beauty in the foothills of Kerala's Western Ghats. When you reach this place, the forested surroundings and the lush green coconut tree groves present a treat for the eyes, making it the perfect place for spiritual regeneration.
