The moon is a tarot card reader’s best friend for the following reasons-

1) Cleansing the ‘tools’ used in tarot reading

It is common practice to clear the energy from the tarot cards, crystals and any other ‘tool’ that a tarot reader uses, on a Full Moon night, to help him/her concentrate on receiving the divine answer better. The moonlight helps these ‘tools’ to get rid of any negative energy they may have accumulated and get charged again. Clairvoyants place their crystals in the moonlight for the entire night or at least for a few hours on a Full Moon night and then they are good to go…..till the next Full Moon night!

2) Cleansing of the spirit and mind

Many clairvoyants, themselves like to sit in the moon light on Full Moon to clear any negative energy they too may have picked up in their readings. They burn some incense and meditate for sometime. Some use this time to even ‘talk’ to the moon to learn how to ‘process’ their own emotions or to spark their imagination. It helps them get in touch with their subconscious and any fears, blocks, memories or secret issues they need to address.

3) Intuition and wisdom is enhanced during Full Moon

Many tarot readers claim that they get very clear readings during Full Moon days as opposed to New Moon days.

4) Cards in the deck, which have moon as a symbol, need extra attention

Tahereh Mafi, author of Shatter Me has put into words indirectly the reason why tarot readers sit up in a reading when a card with the moon pops up. She writes,”The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there; watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do”.

And thats the crux of the whole theory behind the tarot - to understand the changes in our life and being open to accepting it while using the tarot’s guidance to make the best out of the current situation. When the moon comes up in a reading, the tarot reader cautions the querent to look for the missing piece of puzzle in the situation he/she is in because it is the moon who knows us well not only in the dark, but in the light too!

Quoting her further,”Everyday the moon is a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

A tarot reader looks for the secrets which the moon can reveal about what the querent wants to know regarding his situation and thus, this heavenly body in a tarot spread is full of information for the reader.
