Pervez Musharraf Was born on 11 August 1943 at Delhi, India. Former Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, he came to power in 1999 by affecting a bloodless military coup detat. He has, since then, twice suspended the constitution of Pakistan. He seized power on October 12 1999, ousting Nawaz Sharif, the then-elected Prime Minister, dismissed the national and provincial legislative assemblies, declared martial law, assumed the title of Chief Executive and became Pakistan's de facto head of government. In so doing, he became the fourth Army Chief of Pakistan to have assumed executive control.

What may sound unsavoury to some and welcome news to others, the coming eighteen years are going be very critical and crucial for Parvez Musharraf.

Personally, Musharraf is shrewd, aggressive, gifted with a sharp mind and tactful administrative skills. Musharraf has, on many occasions, challenged India. In fact, he has looked down upon India, as some of his predecessors. In this, he has gone unchallenged. His stars have been favouring him until now.
